Ambiguous family education

It is difficult to define the domestic violence and family discipline. “Tiger Mother”, for example, is one of the issues of it. Actually, other people hardly have the room to comment about the family education when it was thought to be out of business. Therefore, our group wants to discuss the ambiguous family education according to Rose’s (喬喬) news.

Our questions are: In Rose’s case, do you think this way of education is too strict? What would you do? The interviewee said that they don’t think about it, but they thought that Rose’s father posted the Rose’s crying photo to Facebook is inappropriate. Second, do you believe in steel discipline or affectionate education? They answered both, which had also answered the next question, do you think there is a possibility between spoiled child and scaring child? Therefore, maybe we would change the question. Fourth, how your parents educate you and would this influence your education to your child? They answer yes, but would use the same way or not is really dispersive. Fifth, if you were Rose’s father, what would you do in that case? We want to know about how the incident would change when it comes to different characters.

How would foreigners learn Chinese? 2.4

Recently, many foreigners start to learn Chinese, which is said to be the hardest language in the world.
Pic 1 (Origin:http://tw.123rf.com/photo_11758940_twelve-animals-of-chinese-characters.html)

There are two interviewees, Su Yeon Park and Song Ha Lee, both from Korea, have learned Chinese for four months.

The first obstacle they have encountered is the four tones. However, Korean characters are similar to Chinese characters, so they can pronounce them better than other European students in class. An efficient way Song Ha Lee found is to look for resemblances. For example, the world “impulse”, has the analogous syllable between Korean and Chinese. When seeing one word, in Korean or English, though didn’t know what it means, people can still pronounce it well. But in Chinese, it is impossible to achieve it without Chinese phonetic symbols.

The next is about same words but have different meaning. Many words have these rules in Chinese. For example, “”, in Chinese has two meaning. It can mean “spend” or “flower” dependent on words parts.

Amie Parry, the professor at Department of English in NCU, has learned Chinese for sixteen years since her college years in America.
Amie Parry

In her experience, the difference between多少(duo shao) and 大小(da xiao) confused her. For native Chinese speakers, we may still not be familiar with the Chinese dictionary because it has the rules that seldom be used in real life. Therefore, it is harder for learners to look up the words they don’t recognize, which makes Chinese so hard to learn.
Pleco(Origin:http://www.pleco.com/)

Pleco, is an fast and convenient app when learning Chinese. Using this app to take a picture about unknown Chinese characters, can help to translate these characters into English. It is better than looking up the Chinese dictionary.

Chinese is a trend over the world now. Though it is complicated, the new learners still keep trying. There would be more efficient ways in learning it. Someday it will be easier to learn Chinese.

Ambiguous family education

There is a piece of news about Rose(喬喬)’s father broke her ukulele and posted her crying photo on Facebook, giving rising to the issue about the ambiguous family education. It is a two-faced problem about family education and domestic violence. I   have seen a report that the employees in Bureau of Social Affairs said that people sometimes couldn’t differentiate the two that they wouldn’t know whether they should dial 113 or not. It is hard to recognize that would leads to two situations, too late to dial or no necessary.
Take a glimpse of the comments, the comments divided into two groups, through this we could see that how divine this issue is and how hard it is to clear the line.
There is news that had blowing over the world, the tiger mother’s way of education. This issue had given rise to the western people about how the two way of education. The tiger mother’s parenting believes children should be beaten and cursed to become the best.
In my opinion, different children have different characters, so I think the education should depend on their characters. Some may fit the beating way, some may not.

Chinese is a mystery and complicated language, and you can’t learn it through English, that would be a disaster. Using every tool you can find, and contact with it every day, it would be familiar with you somehow someday.

How do foreigners learn Chinese?

Two international students are from Korea.
Su Yeon Park, from Korea, had learned Chinese for two months.
When she arrived in Taiwan, she found the first thing about the difficulties in Chinese is that she doesn’t know how to order food and the shop owner can’t speak English well. Therefore, she always needs some helpers to translate the menu for her at the first time when she arrived in Taiwan. The tool she could only use is the dictionary app, although it is not convenient.
Song Ha Lee, form Korea, had learned Chinese for two months. One of the difficulties she had encountered is the four tones. However, because Korean character is similar with Chinese character, they are pronouncing better than other European students in class. An efficient way she found to learn Chinese is to find the resemblance between Korean and Chinese. Like impulse, this word has the analogous syllable between Korean and Chinese.
“”, this word in Chinese has two meaning. In verb, it means spend, but in noun, it means flower. In Chinese, there are so many words have these rules (characters). The interviewees said that these words also confused them, but the grammar and pronunciation are the hardest part. When talking about the book they learned, they thought that it is useful; they could use it in the real life. Su said that she could order pearl milk tea by own herself, and she could also ask for ice and sugar. They also talk about that unlike English and Korean, when seeing the word, even though didn’t know what it means, people can still pronounce it well.
Amie Parry

America, had learned Chinese for sixteen years, since 1987. Amie had learned Chinese in college, and came to Taiwan since 1996 and she is the professor at Department of English in National Central University. She said that pronunciation is one of the difficult parts. Like 多少(duo shao) and 大小(da xiao), she had confused these two words. For the native Chinese speakers, we are still even not familiar with the Chinese dictionary because the Chinese dictionary has it’s own rules that we seldom use in real life. Therefore, Professor Amie said that she once found out she is better than her friend who is a native speaker of Chinese and also major in Chinese in looking up the Chinese dictionary. Because she had lived with the Chinese dictionary since she learned, but her friend didn’t.
Pleco

There is an app that she has used which she thought that it is a fast and convenient tool for learning Chinese than looking up the Chinese dictionary. This app is called Pleco. Using this app to take a picture of the Chinese characters the learners don’t know, and then this app will translate these characters into English.

What do you have in your mobile phone? (Revision)

Since more and more applications have showed up with the large number of the smart phone users using the mobile phones, the phenomenon of using the apps have become more widespread and more general.
Therefore, what would influence these consumers’ choices to download the apps when there are so many choices now on the market?
The same situation in East Asia (China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Taiwan)
According to the data, in all countries, most apps which have been downloaded are games and communications softwares, especially the games. Customers are used to using their smart phones for entertainment and chatting. Through this, the needs of apps are mostly based on entertainment and feature on which is really easy to kill time.

The different situation between Taiwan and East Asia.
Different from other countries, in Taiwan and Japan, where LINE is a popular app, apps about LINE are always on the top ten lists. As far as the information shows that most people in Taiwan download the games are in propose to get the cute and funny stickers so that they can post it when they are chatting with others. Some users are confined by this which leads to a condition that their apps are all about communication. They download the add-apps for chatting whether they will use it or not.

What do you have in your mobile phone?

Since more and more applications had showed up with the large number of using the mobile phones, the phenomenon of using the applications had become more widespread and more general.
Therefore, what would influence these consumers’ choices to download the applications when there are so many of them now on the market?

Same
According to the survey, most applications having been downloaded are games, communications soft wares and the retouching soft wares, especially the games. Through this, we can see that the needs of applications are mostly based on entertainment and what is really easy to kill time.
Also, we can see that in both countries, the top ten applications are all for free.
Difference
The difference between the consumers in Taiwan and U.S.A is that in Taiwan, consumers would focus more on the communication soft wares, even though there are some game applications are in the top ten lists. As far as the information showed that most people in Taiwan downloaded the games are in propose to get the cute and funny stickers, so that they can post it when they are chatting with others. Unlike Taiwan, users in U.S.A don’t have this kind of applications, so what they had downloaded is what they really wanted.

Above all, free and interesting game or communicative software applications were the most attractive application, and they are the only key word on the application market.

Use of applications in different countries

Since more and more applications had showed up with the large number of using of mobile phones, the habits of the users using the applications had become more widespread and more general.
Therefore, how would the consumers choose to download the applications since there are so many of them now on the market?
Same
According to the data (1), most applications the users in Taiwan and in U.S.A had downloaded are games, communications soft wares and the retouching soft wares, especially the games. Through this, we can see that the needs of applications are mostly based on entertainment, which are easy to kill time in the mobile phone application market.
Also, we can see that in both country, the top ten applications are all for free.
Difference
The difference between the consumers in Taiwan and U.S.A is that in Taiwan, consumers would focus on the communication soft wares, since even though there are some game applications are in the top ten list, as far as I concerned that most people downloaded it to get the stickers so that they can post it when they use the communication applications. Unlike Taiwan, they don’t have this kind of applications in U.S.A, so what they had downloaded is what they really wanted.
